The purpose of the Matt Ross Fund is stated in the title, "So That All May Play".
We are a non-profit, 501c3 organization dedicated to helping financially
disadvantaged children play baseball or softball with the Berea Youth League.
We pay the fees, and when funding permits, purchase equipment such as cleats
and gloves. We are dependent upon donations from family, friends, organizations
and the community. All money donated goes 100% to the fund, printing, sale items,
and misc. expenses are paid by the Ross family. To date we have assisted over 200 children in their dream to play baseball or softball.
The Matt Ross Fund began as a
tribute to Matthew Braden Ross
after his sudden death at age 20.
The first question our family asked was,
"How would Matt want to be remembered?" That wasn't a hard question to answer, Matt had loved and played baseball since a young age.
The happiest year of his life were spent on a ball field with the Berea Youth League and the
Berea Community School Pirates.
The next question became, "How could we
help other children play the game Matt
loves so much?" Our answer was to help
families pay the fees associated with playing.
"So That All May Play, The Matt Ross Fund"
was born of the grief a family feels after the
loss of a loved one, and the desire to help other children experience the joy Matt felt
when he was on the field.
It has been 8 years and over 200 children later, the need for the "Fund" grows each year.
Now assisting children in 4 counties, we are more dependent than ever on donations.
We thank the Berea Youth League Baseball/Softball program for their continued support and cooperation as well as the support of our donors. Without their continuing support these children would not be able to enjoy the opportunity to play America's greatest game.
